Privacy Policy

Overview

Redate ("the App") is a free Android application developed by Emin Demiri. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your data.

File Access

The App requests access to a specific folder on your device (the WhatsApp Images folder) using Android's Storage Access Framework (SAF). This access is:

User-initiated. You explicitly select the folder through Android's system file picker.
Limited in scope. The App can only access the folder you selected, not your entire storage.
Revocable at any time. You can revoke access from the App's settings or from Android Settings > Apps > Redate > Permissions.

What the App does with your files

The App reads image and video files in the selected folder and restores the original date so that your gallery and Google Photos display them in the correct order.

The App does not:

Copy, move, or delete any files
Read the content of your photos or videos
Access any folder other than the one you selected

Advertising

The App uses Start.io (formerly StartApp) as an advertising partner to display ads. Start.io may collect and process certain data for the purpose of serving relevant ads:

Advertising ID (Android Ad ID)
Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
IP address (for approximate location)
Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

Your choices

California users (CCPA): You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information as described in Start.io's privacy policy.
Advertising ID: You can reset or disable your Advertising ID at any time in Android Settings > Google > Ads.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

The App uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (by Google) to understand usage patterns and diagnose crashes.

Firebase Crashlytics

Stack traces when the app crashes
Device model, OS version, and app version
A random installation ID (not linked to your identity)

Firebase Analytics

Anonymous session and usage data (daily/monthly active users, retention)
Device properties (country, language, screen size, OS version, app version)
A random Firebase installation ID (not linked to your identity)

Firebase Analytics is configured to not collect the Android Advertising ID, so this data cannot be linked to advertising profiles.

Neither service collects file contents, filenames, photos, messages, or any personally identifiable information.

Legal basis (GDPR): Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in maintaining app stability and improving features. You can opt out of analytics data collection in your device's Google settings.

Data Storage

The App stores the following data locally on your device:

Your selected folder URI
Your theme preference (light/dark/system)
Your WhatsApp variant preference (regular/business/both)
Whether you've completed the onboarding tutorial
The result of your last scan
Quota and ad watch counters encrypted

This data is stored in the App's private storage and is deleted when you uninstall the App. No local data is transmitted to any server.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Start.io ads are not served to users identified as children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
